MEET MATTHEW HOEDT

 

 

I’ve been a full-time real estate professional for over 10 years, helping hundreds of clients in the Phoenix - Scottsdale Arizona area buy the home of their dreams or sell their home quickly and for top dollar.

Prior to real estate, I spent 20+ years in corporate technology and finance, in roles from top-level consultative sales to senior management. Coupled with a degree in Economics, numerous real estate certifications, and the best marketing partners in the business, I offer my clients an unsurpassed level of expertise and service.

I was drawn to a career in real estate for several reasons. I'm able to make a real difference in the lives of my clients, which wasn't always the case in the corporate world. It draws on virtually every skill I've developed throughout my career. My success is in my own hands, driven by my core values and work ethic. And every day I get to explore – a new house, a new neighborhood, a new snippet of Phoenix history. I love this business.

I'm also an advocate for my community and my industry. I served as the 2019 Chairman and 2018 Vice Chair of my REALTOR® association's Global Business Council that helps our 23,000 association members learn to work with international clients. Prior to that I helped launch the NAGLREP Greater Phoenix Chapter, served on the board of directors of the Phoenix Gay Chamber, and spent three years on the Keller Williams Agent Leadership Council. I currently serve on the Arizona Association of Realtors Inclusion/Diversity Committee, and am a member of my REALTOR® association's elite 2020 Leadership Class.

Some Trivia About Me

 

Born in Boston, Mass and moved 10 times before turning 18. I've lived in four states and five countries, experiencing the global lifestyle from an early age.

Graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. in Economics. Was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Worked for 18 years in data/IP sales and management, mostly with AT&T and Qwest in Denver. I’m very comfortable with the Internet and “The Cloud” because I helped my clients build it.

Spent five years in finance as a mortgage banker, licensed financial advisor, and bank vice president.

Co-hosted a live weekly radio show – “Real Estate Radio with the Green Team” – for a year on 1480 KPHX, Phoenix’s progressive talk radio station.

Resident of South Scottsdale since 2005 with my partner of 14 years and our two Golden Retrievers.

You'll find me camping, hiking, biking, and pretty much anything outdoors when it’s not 110°. I love to travel and explore, and am a fan of live music and street fairs.

I’ve climbed 12 of Colorado’s “Fourteeners” (mountains over 14,000 ft) and once pedaled my bike 400 miles for the 6-day “Ride the Rockies.”

I have an endless thirst for knowledge, and average one new real estate certification every year on top of the required continuing education. And I'm getting pretty good at speaking Spanish.

Designations & Certifications

 

Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) - The CRS designation is the highest and most respected credential awarded to residential REALTORS® and brokers, and only 3% of agents have earned this. Criteria includes 10+ years as a licensed agent, 150+ closed transactions, extensive initial and continuing education, and membership in the Residential Real Estate Council.

 

Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) - The CIPS designation requires five full-day courses focusing on the critical aspects of international real estate transactions, both inbound to the USA and abroad. Designees are part of an international referral network of over 4,400 agents in 50+ countries.

 

Institute for Luxury Home Marketing (ILHM) - This is the premier independent authority in training and designation for real estate agents serving affluent clients in the luxury residential market. It provides ongoing education, innovative marketing strategies, partnerships with the industry's best providers, and a national referral network of member agents.

 

Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS) - Designed for REALTORS® who work in resort and vacation destinations. The certification provides tools and training to facilitate the buying and selling of investment, retirement, and second home properties.

 

Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) - Educates agents on how to properly and ethically serve the needs of clients aged 50+. Provides tools, partner resources, and networking opportunites across the US and Canada.

Certified Investor Agent Specialist (CIAS) - CIAS designees have undergone extensive training in the finances of real estate investing to help real estate investors streamline the process of finding and evaluating investment properties to maximize their profits. This designation was retired in 2020.

 

Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) - A CDPE has a thorough understanding and knowledge of foreclosure avoidance options available to homeowners, and the processes required to achieve successful short sales with a wide variety of lenders. This designation was retired in 2020, but was the backbone of my success during the Great Recession.
